Mesh, Texture, Thoughts
Hello everyone. Oscar here again.
I was thinking of many things lately and decided to write them in my blog.
This could be more like personal thoughts or notes.
Mesh was implemented and resident of Second Life just loved it.
Clothing that was created in conventional methods started to go on the sales rack
and more of mesh products are being produced.

Here is a question that came across my mind.
How many mesh products have I seen with well drawn texture?
I know mesh is all about creating a "shape" or an "Object".
Until then, creating objects were about how to tweak prims.
Sculpted prim came in picture and creating things in Second Life was brought to a whole new level.
But still creation of Second Life stayed within the boundary of prim in nature.
Whether it was an ordinary prim or sculpted prim, skirts were penetrating chairs and legs were protruding from skirts.
And here comes mesh. Most of the problems were taken care.
I thought that main stream of Second Life fashion is becoming rigged mesh. (and in a way , I do think so)
I teleported all over Second Life looking for rigged mesh clothing.
I found few great shops that handles mesh product.
Unfortunately I also found tons of crappy stuff too...
I do not know how hard it is to create a mesh object
but let's say you were able to create an awesome mesh skirt. If you apply crappy texture, that skirt is worthless.
I remember while back, a friend of mine told me that Second Life creation is all about texture.

Even after the implementation of mesh, that portion hasn't changed a bit.
One of my greatest concern is that many of my favorite shops are not releasing new products.

I'm not going to name each and every shops that I like
but I hope those creators are not overwhelmed by this new method.
The reason why those shops are my favorite is because they really know how to draw textures.
Mesh or no mesh, eventually it goes back to texture. without it, everything you see is nothing but gray.
